Botanical Name : Ferula Asafoetida
Asafoetida is known to possess anti flatulent, antiepileptic,antimicrobial, anti inflammatory, antispasmodic, anthelminthic, laxative, nervine stimulant and expectorant properties. It is also known toease anxiety due to its sedative qualities. It has dark yellow to greenesh in color with pungent, unpleasant smell. Asafoetida is a perennial plant native to Afghanistan, Iran, and Pakistan. It grows six feet tall from a fleshy taproot and bears composite leaves and umbels of white flowers at its head. Asafoetida produces a gum gathered in summer from the roots of plants at least four years old.
Asafoetida oil is extracted from gum resins of asafoetida plant by the method of cold pressing.
